      Off to Manchester after supper to be next to the airport for the early morning flight! Need to check in at 6.40 am (sigh)... But very excited to get on the way! Hoping for an upgrade due to it being my birthday (10th feb), however, will be very surprised if i get one! Fingers crossed. Etihad flight to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi ...

      Today sees us leaving Witton Gilbert with Passports! Vicky took us to Durham Station and then we caught the train and bus to Manchester Airport! The whole journey went very smoothly, with the exception of lugging large cases up and down stairs at York but hey ho! Very early in Airport - 1hr before gate opened. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...

A travel mosquito net 'impregnated with deet' Camera - I have a Nikon AW1, which is a great bridge camera for traveling as it's also waterproof down to 15m! iPad, iPod and kindle iPhone (for wifi) and old skool Nokia with a good battery (to use local SIM cards in) 2 x travel adapters - though the ones I have don't seem to work in Sri Lanka.       We found a great collection of bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues which resembled Orlando City Walk or Main Street, Huntington Beach (a bit more elegant though). We found the most happening pub and grabbed a drink and some “so called” nachos to tide us over until later that evening. It was a really interesting town to check out and we have only skimmed the iceberg.

      ... held off and Nicky and I had a lovely evening eating delicious food, under a starlit sky listening to the gentle sound of the sea lapping on the sand.
