    ... and done in a Baroque style. The fašade is dominated by red and stands out within the castle complex.

    Our last stop in the castle was the Golden Lane. This is a row of cottages between the inner and outer walls of the castle that were lived in by the craftspeople of the castle. It gets its name from the fact that this is where the gold smiths lived. The houses were tiny and we both had to duck to go through doorways.     ... for more. They were really good, although they were 195 kr. a piece. I'll let you figure that out. They had 12 different varieties, all French, and 100% delicious.     ... reminded me a little of my time in Florence, you are instantly moved as the romanticism and mystique fills you up, it's just contagious. We walked and walked the next day, from the river, to the Jewish quarter full of stalls and synagogues, to the castle and it's cathedral with tall steeples, gargoyles and stained glass windows, to the market squares and eventually the monastery and it's microbrewery.....jack pot!! We had a leisurely lunch ...
