We continued on to Vicksburg via the Natchez Trace which is a pretty scenic
drive. Overall, the whole drive through MS was more scenic than through MO or AR.!
When we arrived in Vicksburg we stopped at the Old Courthouse Museum which has
many artifacts from the 1800s which I really enjoyed. After that it was raining so we

... mean~ he's just a cat, right? It shouldn't be THAT hard to wrap a cat in a shirt, right?? ...Wrong. By the time I finally wrestled Gato into his Thundershirt, I noticed that it was looking a bit small on him. In fact, Gato looked a bit like a sausage being stuffed into casing. I knew something wasn't right...but had no idea what I had done wrong. Then I realized it. I had stuffed Gato into Lucky's (the miniature Pomeranian) ...

... Illinois. Not even the guide maps mentioned this one, but I had seen a picture on the internet years ago and had saved it.

At Mount Olive, Illinois (no 'mount' visible either here or for miles around all day long), we stopped at Soulsby Service Station and I could see that the tree that had grown up through the discarded car ramp outside had grown a little thicker since 2005.

It looks like we will make at least 30 days straight with temp in the 90s. We're at 28 with
no relief in sight. It made it to 102 today.

My surgery sched for 7/16 was cancelled by the Drs and rescheduled for 7/25.
