We arrived at the Detroit Airport at about 6:30 pm, got checked in, and they gave me a hard time about getting my boarding pass for the Paris to Lyon leg. ... and with Megan and Andrew's parents (all four of them came). The shindig didn't start until 6 o'clock, so the first 4-5 hours I was there consisted mostly of day-drinking with strangers and arranging straw bales, building a fire pit, checking out changes in the garden, and so on.
Once the roast was underway, however, things really got cooking (pardon, nay, embrace the pun. You know it's good for you.) People brought all kinds of food (salad, slaws, and so-on, ...
... take a bit less -- for such an extended trip, so I thought I'd recap what it entails. (so you can skip this part if you're not interested). I used Ziploc bags, nothing fancy. Each one respectively contains:
- 3 t-shirts, a button down short sleeved shirt, a long sleeved blousy shirt
- 3 shorts, a loose fitting pair of pants, suitable for beach coverup, lounging
- bathing suit, coverup, sun hat
- 3 pair of socks, 7 underpants, 2 bra, ...
... the state just to pitch in. In the summer they do the golf tournament. Its a golf day with the accent on fun. For me, it's a reason to return to Ann Arbor and reunite with many of my friends from the past. This year there were about a dozen of my close friends in attendance. ... and nothing is registering but, so here we are, cruising the "hood" and EVERY-EVERY-EVERY HOUSE has its own style and flair. The sea of "Maze&Blue" is unbelievable. From decked-out babies and strollers, to "youts" and their bicycles and skateboards, to alum/fans and their cars and motorhomes and golf carts to seniors with wheel chairs and canes - its CRAZY ...
