... drag, across a 4 lane road from the famous Del Coronado Hotel. The "Del" hotel faces the wide sandy beach. After a seafood dinner next door we walked the beach and hotel. It was getting cool!



Our hotel is better than I had expected. We are still exhausted from yesterday. I am up late doing this entry. I do hope I can upload this thing. I did hit the save a draft button a few times while I typed. Seaworld tomorrow.

... as a grand hotel for the wealthy. You couldn't ask for a more perfect setting. While the Del went through some hard times and even faced demolition, it has survived and thrived and is one of the top resorts in the country today. It is also one of the few old grand hotels remaining today. The architecture is stunning, the service impeccable. The rooms are nicely appointed and updated, but not too fussy. ... GPS told us that there were traffic issues along that route. Instead, we came up the Pacific Coastal Highway which is a little more scenic since it parallels the ocean much of the way. The Pacific Coastal Highway also runs through the small (surfer) towns that lie along the coast. It's a really interesting drive since each town has its own distinctive qualities.
