I really enjoy learning about WW2 history so visiting Pearl Harbor marked a memorable moment in my travel map. The war museum and short documentary explained the tension which escalated between Japan and America which lead to the attack on Pearl Harbor. I only wish they offered a screening of the actual movie Pearl Harbor... Definitely put that in the suggestion ...

... Store at literally every corner! So Japan has 7 Elevens/Lawson's (convenient stores) every 100m, and Hawaii has ABC stores.
Once arriving at the hotel and sorting out our room and bags, we went for a quick walk to check things out. We ended up at McDonalds down the road - How appropriate, we are in America after all! ... watch a 25min film on the events. After that we boarded the ferry for the short trip out to the USS Arizona memorial which sits directly above the sunken ship. The ship entombed some 1177 sailors who died almost instantly when she was torpedoed and her armoury stores exploded tearing the ship to pieces. It was a very surreal place especially as you can see the remains of parts of the ship in the water and imagine what lies beneath the water.

... the storage cupboard or that would have been hell! We got talking to the guy at reception who looked like the guy from the hangover, the bearded one with the baby. We never did catch his name, but he gave us directions to the bus stop we needed for the airport. Bag free, we made our way to the bus stop to make sure we knew the way for later. ... and got a Starbucks-style iced coffee. By "Starbucks-style" I mean it takes them 10 minutes to make an average tasting ice coffee.

I later got a staple of Honolulu: shaved ice. It wasn't bad actually. Once I get the pictures off Darred's phone I'll post them here.
