Soaked, scared and amazed

A travel blog entry by maryham on Dec 16, 2014

After a big rest from a full on day yesterday we set off to Disney's California Adventure Park for day two of theme parks. California Adventure Park is Disney's expansion park that is themed mainly off the Pixar films. Mum came up with a new plan today - do the park in the morning, come back to the hotel for lunch and a rest then head back to the park late afternoon for a few more rides and ...

DAY 12: Universal Studios Hollywood

... on the actual ride. The whole experience in that one was basically waiting for thing to properly start.

We then did the "Studio Tour", which was a tram tour through some of the outdoor filming locations. Turns out, there are entire outdoor sets that replicate New York streets (the "Metropolitan") and European streets ("Little Europe"). Think swinging pirate ship meets Ferris wheel - It was actually quite terrifying. Gondolas aren't meant to swing!

There were also smaller, ...

Absolutely worthwhile, the Disneyland FASTPASS virtual queuing system is essential if you don't want to spend an excessive amount of time waiting in line for rides. I'd heard about the passes but in the research I did they sounded complicated. Let me reassure you, they are not! I found that we had them automatically as part of our four day park hopper tickets when we entered Disney California Adventure on our first morning. The lady kindly signalled which ones we should try and ...

Staying at Best Western Plus Park Place Inn

A travel blog entry by shar_a on Oct 05, 2014

... can't beat the location unless you stay at a Disneyland park hotel. Of course, they are a lot more costly! We also had wi-fi included in the room and that was handy for the myriad of Apple devices we had, plus free local calls which was handy for booking extra tours. It took a few minutes to walk down the driveway to Disneyland, and at night we could just see the fireworks from the park. I would definitely stay there again (if I couldn't afford a Disney ...
