    ... s a beautiful day for a drive! We do most of the drive straight up the M1 but as we near traffic at a stand still we decide to take the A road. This is the England we have come to see.     We started off the day with another great English breakfast. What is great is that every place has a lot of veggie options so eggs, veggie sausage, grilled tomatoes and beans. Yum.     ... The final flight of an historic cold war supersonic British Vulcan bomber happened to occur during our lunch as the cherry on top.
    Our exploration of the palace grounds was heightened by the presence of the illustrator for 'The Gruffalo' book series. We were able to act the role of the privileged 18th century aristocracy, playing ring toss and lawn bowling, wandering the gardens, all with Gruffalo inspired activities for the kids interest.

    Went into the city today. It was cold and wet all day. It doesn't show Manchester in its best light, but it's somehow all you expect of it. Still, I hope to get a chance to see it in a sunnier light before we leave.
