... leading me to believe that the garbage men might be on strike.

It's not like the Dutch are slobs and chuck their trash wherever they please, they don't. It's a small country, so I'm sure the landfills are at capacity. The trash cans and dumpsters were overflowing with garbage, with one Starbucks cup neatly stacked on top of an orange juice carton. We didn't take any pictures of it, we don't want you to get the impression that Amsterdam is not awesome.

... got up and got ready for an advertised pub crawl we had seen the night before. We had to pay a fee for the pub crawl, and part of that money went toward a t-shirt. The t-shirt was the only good thing about that evening.
The next day Matt and I walked to this beautiful park before we boarded our over-night train. The park was on the other side of the city, but it was well worth the walk. It was peaceful, beautiful, and full of people of all ages. ...

... with my list and off in search of what makes Amsterdam tick. I first visit the Albert Cuyp Market located near the Heineken museum. Considered the largest street market in the Netherlands it had every characteristic you could possibly ask for, fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, flowers, plants, nuts, fabrics, clothing, leather, jewellery, and breads. Either side of the market were cafes and antiques furniture stores. I’ve decided to return later ...

Today we visited the ice bar, this was great and absolutely freezing at -10deg, we then went on to visit the Heineken Experience, this was great with lots of interactive displays. We then finished with free beer at the end. At the end of the day we did a canal cruise to see The Amsterdam lights, we also went passed the Red light district too but could only see the lights no girls they may have been ...

... to do for the rest of the day and our plans for the next couple of months. It was really nice in the sun relaxing and having a rest from the bikes. Amsterdam is really great for cycling. Apparently bicycles make up 45% of the city's transport. There are bike routes everywhere and it all just flows. Bicycles also have the right of way mostly. It's far more efficient to get anywhere in the city by bike then by car and probably by tram too! After our bathing in the sun ...
