At first we were absolutely dumbfounded by the sheer size (or perceived size) of the zoo. The map was enormous and, like most zoos, made absolutely no sense. Um dem Klischee eines Schweizers vollständig zu entsprechen, schenkte er mir im Reiseverlauf auch noch ein Stück Schweizer Schokolade ;-)
Doch damit nicht genug. Ebenfalls im Bus befand sich der deutsche Medizinstudent Thomas, der ebenfalls San Diego als Reiseziel anvisierte. Mit ihm begab ich mich dann auch auf den Weg zum Hostel.
