    ... in the front downstairs got up – followed soon after by others in the back of the tender. The crew told them to sit down - some did but others did not which was stupid really given the really rocky conditions we were under. I thought that they must have been eager to get to the buffet because if they were like us, they hadn’t had lunch. We waited until there were only 4 of us left – no point in rushing to get off as that’s when accidents ...

    ... was no hot water (solar powered so not brilliant when we had not a ray of sunshine for 3 days!)
    breakfast is DIY in a communal kitchen - it's like being a student again- but it's a great way to meet other travellers.
    On the rainy days we managed to get out and about - visiting Lahaina an old whaling town, stopping in a lay-by and watching the humpback whales go by, going to look at the "resorts" which are large hotels ...

    ... VERY nice) Then we drive with them in their car up further into the hills to Kula. We're welcomed into Erica and Mark's lovely Christmassy house. Lots of booze and a lovely spread of food - crab cakes, prawn wontons with wasabi and soy chilli dips, artichoke dip with crudités. Delicious. Nice folks. We don't stay long, just a couple of hours, then we head back to our car. We arrange to camp at P&L's wedding, rather than try to arrange a cab. Simpler that ...

    ... signs everywhere.

    The next day, I was alone so I checked in to the cheaper Royal Lahaina. I laid down at the beach and enjoyed taking pictures. Water was taking a billion different shades of blue-green as it turned navy from 100% clear. I figured how to take panoramic pictures finally and took tons of them. Strolled around with a funny confident feeling and enjoyed warmth and solitude.
