    Beach Paradise

A travel blog entry by anlnewby on Jun 11, 2015

Today started like the last few. An early wake up for me and a nice gentle sleep in for Lisa. Today Lisa was happy to make breakfast and did a wonderful job. The day started cloudy and we weren't sure whether it would be a good day to camp out at the beach for the whole day. We decided to go anyway and the cloud cover soon moved to a beautiful sunny day. The water was amazing and fresh like ice to our warm ...

... Saint Helen, mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. We happened to be there on one of the biggest celebration in Geek Orthodox Church - the rising of Jesus Christ on Easter. We attended a midnight mass at this beautiful church, lighted the candle and sang the hymns and participated in the celebration with local people. The storm finally subsided, the sun came up and I was able to enjoy the balcony for the first time. Santorini here we ...

Day 13 - Naxos: All beach all day!

After what felt like a wasted vacation day visiting mountain towns yesterday, we headed for the beach today, setting different expectations of the island of Naxos. St. George's beach in central Hora, the harbor town of Naxos, was extremely shallow with very clear water. Just a 10 minute walk from our hotel, it was the perfect destination for the ...
