This is an older place and in need of many repairs but the price is right and we always have a good time. Rooms are small, think dorm room, with 2 twin beds, a hot plate, toaster and a coffee pot!

Really like this, and Phil has been coming here for 17 years now. People are friendly and rooms are clean, though small with 2 twin beds, a hot plate, a toaster and a coffee pot. The Bull Shed, attached is good eating too.

Today we rented a kayak and headed down the Wailua river to find the Secret Falls. Once we beached our kayak, the hike to the falls should have took a half hour. I took a wrong turn and our hike was about 45 minutes. I should have followed the river or perhaps listened to Sheila!! She was right. The hike was very muddy as it has rained in the area for the last three days. We hiked through tall weedy type vegetation (looked like an old sugar ...

... be a new experience. I spend the rest of the day to walk around Kapa'a and the beach. And I had to figure out my plans for the next days. Nate, an American girl who studies Botanics in Honolulu gave me some good hints as she does some of her Master works here on Kauai.

          Hanalei bay - beach day

A travel blog entry by kellyham on Dec 11, 2014

Today turned out to be a pretty cloudy day but we still decided to hit the beach. We went to walk the pier at Hanalei Bay and a bunch of people were boogie boarding so Andy decided to rent a board for the day. It was cheap as well, only $6 a day. We hung out for a couple of hours and then grabbed lunch in the town. The bay is great for swimming or learning to surf because the water is ...

... is a Wallmart here but they don't do fresh meat or had to find a local Safeway as well. We came home for lunch...then a wee nap....then I walked over to other resorts pool, had a swim and a walk along our ocean front...felt much better. Both of us are exhausted today! We did a beautiful BBQ steak for dinner and retired pretty ...

... br> Oh did I mention exactly why I love this island?? BECAUSE it's JURASSIC PARK Island! I thought maybe we would be lucky and see some filming action for the new movie, but it was already done a few weeks before. Now when I see the movie, I say 'I saw that, and this, and this' dinos though!
You can do loads of activities: Whale watching, Zipline, canoe, etc.

It was with sadness that we left this island and Hawaii in general. Truly great!
