This is an older place and in need of many repairs but the price is right and we always have a good time. Rooms are small, think dorm room, with 2 twin beds, a hot plate, toaster and a coffee pot!

Really like this, and Phil has been coming here for 17 years now. People are friendly and rooms are clean, though small with 2 twin beds, a hot plate, a toaster and a coffee pot. The Bull Shed, attached is good eating too.

We flew past Ke'e Beach and the parking lot and ponds we had see yesterday. The we flew on the west side of Hanalei Bay and up a canyon to the Mt. Wai'ale'ale Crater and into the crater where we saw the Weeping Wall. Mt. Wai'ale'ale is one of the wettest places on earth. ...

... seen it all day long. We took our time getting ready to go to breakfast. We decided to go to a place called Eggberts just down the road. It was recommended by someone who wrote in the journal for the condo. We also found a family in the journal from Grove City and Galena, Ohio. Small world!

We got to Eggbert's about 10:00. It was open air covered dining and we shared the space with a couple of pigeons who loved stealing food from the ...

... Some sun and lots of clouds. Eventually we headed west. First stop was to visit BeBe in Hanapepe and talk about renting her place at Kalaheo next year. Then a stop at a consignment shop in Waimea to visit another friend and give her a dress I had purchased there a few years ago so she can sell it again. Down the street to the Shrimp Station for some coconut shrimp. Next a stop at a beach for Phil to have a short swim and on to PoliHale and the end of ...

... Nothing much remains but a pile of rocks, red dirt and chickens. Yep Colonel Sanders must have a ranch around here somewhere. NEXT, was a stop at Kauai Coffee Co which supplies 80% of the American market so I made sure there was 1% less they could have before I left!!! Homeward bound to the hotel at least, and a brief stop before getting showered and changed for the Luau. It was held in the ballroom disappointingly and I wouldn't call it traditional but the show ...

... in our silver Chrysler 200 convertible. We noticed about half way to our lodging that the car squeaked really badly. After 11 hours of airline travel, we really just wanted to get to our room so we tried to ignore it. We followed the directions provided to us by the owners of Makaleha Bed & Coffee and had no problem finding it. It is in Kapa'a at the base of the mountains. The location is so beautiful and peaceful. Our room was ready for us when ...
