... to board a small boat for a cruise down to Dalyan. We thought there might have only been a few on the boat, but by the time it left at 10am it was fully loaded with Turks, Dutch, French and two Australians. We all had our tables and that was where we stayed! We sat with two lovely young Parisians and had a wonderful time dispelling some stereotypes ...
... a real jet-set place.
The waterfront and boardwalks have a great ambience and are full of great 'turkish style' open-air restaurants.
For us these Turkish Riviera Resorts are a real 'find' and match any in the rest of Europe .. they are beautiful.
... so I could stretch out to sleep across 4 seats. Carley will appreciate my "Mr Bean moment" when I hung my wet knickers and tee-shirt out on the tray tables to dry them off. :-)
The flight and bus connections were all very easy, so here I am now in Marmaris, Turkey. I spent all day in the Albatros Marina going over one potential boat purchase, hitch-hiked back to town at end of the day, ...
... The main wreck was carrying amphoras and glassware and glass of all shapes and sizes. To think that some of these fine glass vessels and glasses remained whole is amazing.
Bodrum is really quiet. It has a huge port with lots of expensive yachts and motor launches. Strangely enough large numbers of these boats are registered in Wilmington, Delaware in the US which is an inland state! Apparently by registering ...
... temporary henna tattoos which gave us a lasting memory of the day.
All in all I hugely enjoyed my time spent in Mugla. It is a small city with no tourists, however this gives you the chance to really explore the Turkish culture.
I would definitely recommend CSV; it gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world including Taiwan, Korea and from all over Europe.
