We decided to take our time driving to Chicago, spreading the 14-hour drive over a period of 4 days. The views were picturesque with the majority of trees along our route in full autumn swing, although the weather had definitely taken a turn for the worse with temperatures not rising above 5 degrees (a far cry from the 35-40 degrees in Florida 2 weeks ago) and the sun barely finding its way through the carpet of grey above us.
