For the last few days we have been up at the ski hills, getting better everyday and absolutely loving it. Keystone is huge, with the gondola taking 10 minutes to reach the top of the run. We've had some big falls but keep coming back each day and doing it again.
We've been camping on the fringe of town and it's starting to get cold. It's expected to get as low as -15 degrees by the end of the week which should be interesting!

... follow one or another of the recommended byways instead of an interstate highway. Leaving Rocky Mountain National Park, we headed for the "Top of the Rockies" scenic byway, that passes by Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, the two tallest peaks in the state.

We drove into the historic town of Leadville and immediately felt welcomed and drawn to the area. Afternoon sun was setting behind the mountains and rain laden clouds were ...

... Milner Pass (10,758 feet). As you might guess, it is closed during the winter. Trail Ridge Road usually opens in late May. National Park Service plow operators normally begin clearing the snow in mid-April, with crews from the west side of the park and crews from the east side of the park eventually meeting at the Alpine Visitor Center – 11,796 feet above sea level. That Visitor Center is the highest in the National Park System. It’s ...
