Sea World - very entertaining Fri, Oct 11

So San Diego seems pretty compact.  It wasn't too long a drive from the hotel to Sea World.  We arrived fairly early and had no problems parking.     We headed over to the Arctic area first to see the lazy polar bears, the beluga whales, penguins - who were adorable of course.  There were 5 different shows on as well that day - and they were all timed well so you could get from one to the other.  We passed by ...

Finally found a little restaurant called the Green Flash on the beach front - so were able to watch the surfers and people walking, jogging, skating, skateboarding and roller blading. Both of us had fish for dinner - a nice change. I am a little sick of the fake politeness of the yanks. They all do the 'hi, how can I help you' but it lacks ...

... provides a great respect for their power and intelligence, the ethics of keeping these natural hunters for entertainment remain questionable for me. Of course, some are rescued from injury, or certain death in the wild, or are bred in captivity, and researchers can certainly learn much from these animals. I can't help but think, though, looking at their bent dorsal fins, that they'd be better off out there roaming the oceans, wild and free... but ...

... off to the side of the road and untangled the mess. It just so happens that while staying in Hot Springs, AR, Uncle John had given Erika two extra bungee cords that she then passed on to Amanda to save the day! Thanks Uncle John!

At the beginning of the day we stopped at a McDonald's and ended up meeting Mark Johnson, author and photographer of Argyle Armada. This book looks worthy of a check out. Here is the link to his website if you're ...
