Well theres nothing like a little action to wake up a sleepy little Mexican town like Penasco. It has been absolutely dead here for a while despite the temperatures finally warming up a little. However, this morning we awoke to the sounds of Mexican Federales buzzing around in 3 Apache helicopters, 3 planes circling and a gunship on the water. On Saturday Dec 7th, Karen and I drove over to El Centro to meet John and Bertha and then headed to Puerto Penasco, Mexico. We crossed the border at Mexicali and drove about 4 ½ hours to the resort. We stopped in Sonoyta for lunch at a cute Mexican café. Bertha ordered lunch for all of us, a combo plate of different Mexican foods, it was really yummy.

The streets were different, the shops were different, the people were different. I thought maybe it would taper off from looking like the US to looking like MX, but no, it was instantaneous. Rather than stop for food in this border town, we aimed for Peñasco del Sol, and off we went.
