... pleasant. we cooked tea before boarding the ferry, this ferry is older than the one we arrived on and our cabin, an inside one isn't as comfortable, I find it a little claustrophobic and although we turned the ventilation up the temperature wouldn't drop below 27 degrees, may be were sleeping over the engine room where the men are stoking the fires!! The ferry set sail on time and we went to bed in our hard beds, as it's an early start, we dock in Piraeus at 6.00 ...

It's another beautiful day, we exercised Logan on the beach before driving to Chania. The route we took was over the hill back to Almyrios, we really like this area. ... full, and full of red coloured mud. The old town is closest, as we strolled up the Main Street all that was needed was some tumble weed blowing down it to complete the scene from a deserted cowboy film set, the shutters were all closed, shop and bar signs were squeaking as they swung on the wind and no one was about, except an odd taverna had a light on. If we had gone in would the drinks have been pushed down the bar to us?
At the top of the street there was ...

... we needed was closed for repairs, we had to follow a diversion for quite a way. It's a good job that we have a map, when we rejoined the main road there wasn't any indication of which way to go to get back to where the turning that we needed was. As we dropped into Paleochora the storm was in full force, we stopped at the supermarket, the locals were double and treble parked to be as close to the doors as possible. As we were at the checkout the owner gave us a box of cakes as a gift ...
