Everyone is having a great time. The kids are so excited to be here! Especially cool for Ben who has never been. We've had great weather and have been snorkelling right out front where we've seen lots of fish and turtles. Whales are breaching and dolphins were right out front yesterday jumping out of the water! We've been really lucky in our …
Leaving the cold before the snow flies.....after 2 weeks, I find a wonderful place to stay right across from the beach in north Kihei. Shortly after moving in, I get news that my dear cousin Chris lost his battle with depression and took his life to escape the torment. On the morning of his memorial service, held so far away on the east coast, I …

This Marina was also the Maui Headquarters of the US Coast Guard and there were two Coast Guard ships in port. They also had the best building in the Harbour also.
The third bus then carried us to Lahaina and all in all the trip took us over 2 hours. By this time it was lunch and we ...

We went to the posh restaurant at night again. Again I had a cocktail, but Tina didn't. Wish I could remember all their names. I remember that they pretty well all had rum in them.
When I got to my room I discovered that I had left my book on the deck!!
As we were sailing that day I took a Phenergan and slept like a rock.

Heading even further round the coast the views were stunning and we got as far as Honokau and a very cool blow-hole before having to turn back. On the way back to we were keen to check out Black Rock a snorkelling ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Mana Kai Maui Kihei
Preferred ovr 1000 other places
A place where you actually feel like you are on your own at the beach.
Uncrowded, no staff gooing over you, waiting for a tip, our condo was clean, could use an update, but the beachside view more than make up for any problems. The beach is spectacular, great for kids, and snorkelling right out the door is a must. In a the quiet end of Kehei, just a short walk or drive to amenities. We've been there many times- we try other places, but know where to go for a consistantly lovely break. We are not restaraunters, but the one on location is good. NO BBQ, but we have found a nearby place where we sneak our steaks. NOT FOR THE ULTRA FUSSY, or the person that wants pampering. We just go there to enjoy the beach. lots of Canadians stay there. Worth the $ to our family.
An amazing experience!
I have stayed at the surfside, which is right next door, but this was my first time staying at the Mana Kai. What a great time I had! The service was also very attentive to my family's needs. Our room had the most spectacular view and the sunsets are beautiful. Plus, the ocean is so calm and safe and so clear. I recommend this condo to people who need to relax or just want to enjoy themselves.
Favorite Vacation Get-Away for 15 years
What a great home away from home the Mana Kai has become. It has great beach access without the noise of crowds of larger resorts. Our family of 12 stayed there for many years every January and we always enjoyed our stay. After many searches for more luxurious or varied accomodations, we always ended up back at the Mana Kai...probably because it's PERFECT. Not the most luxurious resort for sure, but definitly perfect for the family and for travelers really wanting to get away from it all. I highly recommend the resort to anyone not wanting In 15 years I have never had anything but a fabulous view, great beach, and good bar/restaurant facilities. I wish everyone a fabulous vacation and recommend the mana Kai to anyone interested.
Thanksgiving at Mana Kai
Just spent two wonderful weeks at the Mana Kai Resort. We had a Two bedroom (which is connected to an airconditoned Hotel Room) Two Bath Condo. So One bedroom was fully air conditioned and the other bedroom next to the lanai had a very comfortable king size bed and sofa sleeper. Totally remodeled, beautifully appointed condo ,with all the amenities was rented thru AAA Oceanfront Condo's for low off season rate. Definately worth the money, the beach out front is great for boogie boarding and snorkeling around the rocky reef point. We got a discount card for groceries when we checked in...good thing cuz milk is$6.50 a gallon without it! We baked a turkey and had a great family reunion. I highly recommend the mana kai, ask for a deluxe unit!
Our favorite vacation spot
We try to vacation in Maui avery couple of years and always stay at the Mana Kai. It is truly like our home in Maui. Nowhere else can you be so close to the ocean with the best beach anywhere and not have elbow to elbow people! No A/C is the only problem, but you couldn't hear the ocean then.
Great Ocean View
The Mana Kai is right on the beach--we love listening to the waves at night. Our room had a great ocean view. Great sunsets, great beach for snorkeling. Short walk to Wailea hotels and restaurants. Units are really large! Kitchens are complete, but who wants to cook on vacation?
We only used the frig and the microwave.
Uncrowded, incredible white sand beach
We have stayed at the Mana Kai on several occassions. It's an older property and that is why it's closer to the ocean than most. Against building code to get this close anymore. Some of the rooms have not been renovated so make sure you go thru a reputable agent. Our rooms have been outstanding. The beach, the pool, the snorkeling in front and the proximity to Wailea make it a great choice.
Due to an booking error made by our travel agency we were forced to stay at the Mana Kai on our first night on Maui. It's a DUMP, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise! Kihei is not that great to begin with (one strip mall after another, and a mediocre beach- one local later told us that she hasn't bee to Kihei in over 5 years because the beach is awful, and it has nothing to offer), and the Mana Kai is badly in need of some major renovations. Even though it's a condo, it felt like a really cheap, really dirty motel. Our unit had no A/C, battered/faded furniture, a bed that felt like a slab at the morturary, and I woke at 2am for a glass of water and found small bugs swarming all over the kitchen sink. The only thing that was remotely nice about the Mana Kai is that we could hear the waves crashing on the beach all night long, but, given that it felt like 105 degrees in our room even with the balcony door open, we took little pleasure in the sound.
Great Location and Value
Stayed ther for a week and loved it. The units can be dated, depending on the owner, and the pool is so-so, but you can't beat the location and price. Steps to a great beach and reef. We have two young kids and I would highly recommend the resort.
Entranced by the sound of the surf
Nothing soothes the soul as the soft sound of waves caressing the beach in front of your room. Each night you are lullabied to sleep by the gentle surf that echoes ever so softly into your room. Even our 3 kids enjoyed the view and the distance from the noisey suburb of Los Angeles that we live in. It may be a honeymooners paridise but for a family of 5(3 teenagers) it was a great place to stay. The rooms are very adequate to handle our family and made it pleasurable to eat in to keep the budget in tack. Snorkling out in front of the condos kept the kids busy, not mentioning the ability to rent boogie boards right at the condos. I would recommend the Mana Kai Maui to anybody who wants to be on the beach with quick access to uncrowded beaches .
