... LANDSCAPE. John is like a kid with a new toy as he is off tomorrow skiing ( by himself ) while we go shopping. Baz is still waiting to see " bayers" (bears) in case you r all wondering!!!! NO LUCK YET. Will be here for 3 days 2 nights then head to Lake Tahoe for Christmas and a chalet for 3 nights.

... Death Valley, apparently (according to Claire's weather app) it's 37 degrees in the day and 21 degrees at night, ohhhhh heaven! Stovepipe Wells, here we come, get the pool ready, we're on our way! As we'll be in Death Valley, the signal is likely to be poor to non-existent, so we probably won't be able to update tomorrow but we'll update the day after once we reach Vegas (yeah baby) to fill you all ...

... Twin Lakes is almost back on the north-east border of Yosemite, still around 7000ft. We thought it'd be nice to relax for a couple more nights in the mountains before heading south. The lake is a pretty blue, a favourite with fishermen and summer holiday-makers, but it's quieter now than at the height of the summer season. Our log abode is called a "rustic" cabin, but it has everything we need: beds, kitchen, bathroom, floor at a 15 degree incline... ...

... people wishing me a happy birthday. Almost every 'cast member' as well as heaps of random strangers. I also found heaps of compadres - people with the same birthday as me.

Finally I got to do exactly what I wanted so I planned out a total of 17 rides or attractions that I wanted to visit and by the end of the day we had managed all but 2. Here's what we did:

... of the trails. The names of a few of the flowers were Indian Paintbrush, Columbine, Lupine, Corn Lilies. The far off Minarets reminded me of the Dentelles in Provence. Coming off the mountain, we tried to offset our calories by stopping by The Pie in the Sky shop for a hiking treat. They were sold out so we saved on calories!
