... The reason for my freakouts though, was that Hwy 108 (Sonora Pass) winds its way up through the forest with an elevation of 9624 feet above sea level. To put this into perspective, you can jump out of a plane at 10000 feet. After a long drive all the way around Yosemite national park, and after another appearance by Steve Erwin, we found the entrance to the park. The drive was long but beautiful through snow capped mountains. AK and SJ stopped to have a play in the snow and found that in parts it was knee deep! SJ was a bit nervous when AK was driving close to the edge of the cliffs as it was a pretty long drop off one side! There was loads of wildlife which made SJ very happy. ...
