Hated Majestic Beach
We booked our 3br condo for 9 (4adults, 5children) directly with the owner, and paid for it before we arrived. Everything appeared to be in order before we got there and we were ready for a terrific experience as ususal. We arrived at the condo at 11:55 and were told that they could not find our reservation. I had to show them a copy of the e-mail where we had booked the condo with the owner before they would believe me. After this, and several minutes later they finally located the reservation under the owners name. We were then informed the condo was not ready due to cleaning, and we would need to come back later (we were aware of this and knew we were early so this was ok). We returned at 2:00 to check and see if it was ready and it still was not. We returned again at 4:00 (Check-In time) and I was told once again that I did not have a reservation. We had to go through the same process all over again. Fifteen minutes later after they finally found the reservation again I was told that the room was still not ready. I asked the front desk lady to please contact housekeeping and verify what was on her screen since it was now 4 hours later and check-in time. She assured me that it was correct and that there could not be a problem, but that she would call. In the meantime, one other person was also told they could not find his reservation, one lady was told they were out of two bedroom units could she please accept a one bedroom, and another was waiting for his room to be cleaned like us. Two phone calls from housekeeping and 45 minutes later, we finally received our room keys and would have believed this to be the end of our problems.
We began to unload our cars and quickly found a line of cars and people waiting and wandering near a bank of "3" elevators for 23 floors. No one could find a luggage cart as it appeared they must only have 4 or 5 and everyone was checking in at the same time at 4:00 pm. You can imagine with 3 elevators and no luggage carts things were very chaotic. Most people had their entire families carrying their items up in piecemeal (which is what we did as well). Once we finally completed this process, approximately one hour later, we were completely exhausted and did not want to do anything else.
Then to top things off throughout the week there was only one pool for Tower II which was shaded and very cold, therefore everyone was forced to go to Tower I to use the only available sunny outdoor pool which made it extremely crowded. Also we told by security on 2 separate occasions that we were not allowed to play with a cloth water ball made for the pool (water toy), nor were you allowed to have drinks within 3 feet of the pool. After he mentioned this to us the second time, I felt it necessary to point out that in 10 years of going to Destin, FL no one ever once said anything about these type of water toys, and as a matter of fact they were rather prevelant. Also, many of them had tiki bars and allowed drinking by the pools. I was informed that this was not Destin and they had their rules and Destin had theirs. Fyi. we will return to Destin.
This is the only review I have ever written and we travel a lot, but I felt this experience was so poor I could not in good consience let it pass and let anyone else experience what we did without knowing. Hopefully we have helped someone.
Will not return
I rented a 4 bedroom condo (we had ten people in our party) First thing, you cannot check in until 4 o'clock. Which means that you can't use the pool until you check in. So we had to sit in the lobby with our luggage and children. The parking deck is across the street. You can't possibly imagine how far the walk is with all of your luggage and small children. I absolutely cringed at the thought of having to walk to the car for anything! Our condo wasn't worth what we paid for it. There wasn't enough furniture in the living room to accommodate 10 people. The unit was decorated with just enough to get by on. Our cable was out in 2 of the rooms and by the time they got there to repair it, we were checking out the next morning. Mind you, we were there for a week. There are 2 outdoor pools, however they are both in the shade and the pool at tower one was so crowded because no one wanted to swim at tower two because of the shade. The restaurant by the pool was good, but overpriced. On the day that we checked out, it took us over a hour to get from our room down to the car due to the slowness of the elevators. UNBELIVEABLE!! This experience has ruined me. I will never stay in a condo again.
Dont Rent From Joni's Beach Rental
Where should we start. We rented from an owner site, VRBO, and once we decided on the condo and the location, the owner told us that we needed to contact Joni's Beach Rentals to reserve the condo. No problems there. We were told we could check in early, pay in full, receive our car garage pass and pool passes and leave a cell phone number for contact when our room was ready to enter. NO PROBLEMS THERE.
The problems began when we were told at 3:30 PM that our room was now ready (check in time was 3 PM). We entered the condo which SMELLED of cigar smoke to find, dirty linen and comforters laying on dirty floors, a broom and dustpan laying in the laundry room with the washer and dryer running with our towels, dirty refrigerator, stove top, bugs and sand everywhere, dirty linen on an unmade Master bed, hair in the sinks and bathtubs, and this was the KICKER .........FECES in the master toilet with a clogged toilet bowel. It was 4 phone calls later and 5:30 PM before the condo was completely cleaned. It turns out that two teenage girls were supposed to have completely cleaned our condo.
The view is incredible ! The beach beautiful. The pool area clean. There is a security guard whose first name begins with a W, that harrasses mostly the pretty young women regarding the pool tag that MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHETHER IN THE POOL OR AROUND THE GROUNDS !!! The outdoor pool is way too crowded with people "saving" chairs all day long. The covered pool is where we stayed mostly, VERY COLD, but great view of the ocean. The layout of the condo is not what we would have preferred; the master bedroom is long and huge with an oversized bath with a corner jacuzzi tub that we used to dry our bathing suits. The living room is small with seating for 4 comfortably only; we had 6 people. The kitchen was stocked with "starter paper towels (2 paper towel sheets), very minimal kitchen cookware and bakeware; baths had a fourth of a roll of toilet paper, and one garbage bag per trash can. The condo is across from the trash room which really really smelled bad.
Location of the condo is great! View is great! Majestic is not so great. Believe me, we were not the only family unhappy with the room the first day. Very disappointing. Perhaps if you rented from the owner directly or from the Majestic itself then you could get a clean condo when you arrive. I asked for my cleaning fee refunded, denied. We left the room clean and all towels clean and put away in hopes that the next family would have a better experience.
I will return to the Dunes of Panama next year; buildings D or E next year.
Check the links at Joni's Beach Rental though for the Blue Dolphin Tours located on Thomas Drive, Treasure Ship Marina, Captain MIKE is the bomb ! Take the dolphin, Shell Island tour which seats 6 people. Captain Mike is GREAT; he took us out into the lagoon finding sand dollars for all of us, saw a sting ray, swam with the dolphin. Just an incredible experience. Book the 9 AM tour for the best dolphin encounter experience. Dinner at Pineapple Willys is fun, GO EARLY if you have hungry children. The Treasure Ship Restaurant is always our favorite to go on.
We had a wonderful vacation. Just wanted to let you know about our experience so you might learn from what we encountered. I know I always check trip advisor before I book a place to stay. We only vacation once a year, so it is very important to us to have what we need to be comfortable. Have fun at the beach !
comparable cost to others due to its size. i would higly recommend this hotel. the new construction is great the old majestic used to be a shack but always busy because of the spot it is located in.
peace love kid
Bei der Größe preislich vergleichbar mit anderen Unterkünften. Sehr empfehlenswert. Das neue Gebäude ist klasse, dass alte Majestic war, nur eine Hütte, war aber wegen der Lage immer voll
I, my wife and our 8 year old grandson had the opportunity to stay in the "spanking brand new" Tower 2. The room was decorated and furnished to the hilt. All of the resort's swimming pools are either inside or located outside on the ends of the resort. Therefore when you look out your windows or step out onto the balconey, all you see is white sand and the turquoise shades of the gulf. Service was great and the starbucks had great wraps and sandwiches (a little high in price, but then all Starbucks are). I believe there were a total of 5 pools and my grandson enjoyed them all. Our room was on the 3rd floor and I would definitely recommend this floor to everyone. When you park in the garage there is just a very short walk across an air-conditioned walkway that connects to the 3rd floor. Therefore we never had to use the elevator. Also the work out room, theater, and tennis courts are all house in the building across the street connected by the same walk way. So I would highly recommend the 3rd floor for access to the above mentioned amenitites as well as pools, resturants, etc. just 2 stairwells below you. The kitchen and both bathrooms were much larger than we were anticipating and garbage drops are located within just a short distance of the room. The Majestic is located right in the middle of front beach road with great access to restaurants, cinemas, etc. We are already planning another trip with our son and daughter in-law and their 2 children.
Good things and bad things
First stay at this location in PCG, 4 Teens, 2 adults. Stayed in a 4 bedroom which worked out well, furnishings very nice. Cleanliness - there were dirty ashtrays left on the balcony and left over frozen pizza in the oven. Elevators VERY slow and not enough of them. Pool is shaded in the mornings. Location is poor for walking to anything for the kids. It is a long way to clubs etc. on Thomas Dr. If you have 18+ aged teenagers, would recommend locations on Thomas close to Spinnakers etc.. Loved the parking garage and over the road walkways. Walls are thin and allows road noise to be heard, which was difficult to sleep at times and we were on the 14th floor. OK, but would not return.
A fine time!
The resort was beautiful! Our family had a great time playing and relaxing in the many pools. Overall the buildings were very clean and new. The grille was good and the Starbucks coffee was a definite plus!
The elevators were a little slow from time to time, but it was mainly during "peak" times when everyone was going out to the beach or dinner. The walk to the parking deck was a bit long, but at least you were in air conditioning for the majority of the trek. (We've been in hotels where the walk was very long and not air conditioned, so this was a breeze!)
We rented from a private owner, and the decor in the condo was incredible. The furnishings were luxurious and comfortable. There was no time wasted with check in or check out because our condo had a box with the key right in it. The people that we rented from were lovely to work with!
Had a Great Time
This place is absolutely beautiful. There was only a couple of bad things I will get out of the way first. One, there is a long walk from the parking garage to the rooms in tower one. Tower two hasn't opened yet, but when it does the walk will be a little shorter. Secondly, there was a church camp "beach week" going on so there was a lot of teenagers. I waited 20 minutes or more on an elevator on more than a few occasions. I would assume anytime holiday week or crowded week there is going to be a wait at the elevator. When people starting clearing out I waited no longer than a minute everytime I needed the elevator. I would recommend a room on the 3rd floor. The overpass leads directly to the 3rd floor and the only elevator you have to deal with is the one's in the parking garage. Now for the goods. The resort overall is a beautiful place. The decoration is excellent. There is a lot to do for young ones and family's. The pool and hot tubs were always clean. The management was always great. The food and coffee at the market are great, although they are a little expensive. Our room was excellent. I would recommend going through an owner instead of the resort. You can save a lot of cash.I would definitely revisit this place. I hope this helps.
Very Nice Time
Had a great time at Majestic Beach Towers. We rented directly from an owner and checked in on-site at Coldwell Banker. The coffee shop down stairs was great as well as the indoor pool. The onsite restaurant had really good food but was somewhat expensive. The room was great. We really liked the wall colors and the decor. The kids loved the games that was there as well as the DVD's. One can easily tell that a lot of thought was put into "pleasing" their guests. Although the room wasn't ready when we arrived, and we had to make our own beds (housekeeping told us if we would make our own beds they would bring us $20.00 the next day, but never happened) the vacation was great. The out-door pool was beautiful but was too cold to enjoy. When you vacation for Spring Break a heated out-door pool is a must.

Woke up today to the overwhelming humidity in our tent. I got up and meandered about for the morning doing laundry, showering and lazing by the pool. Once I got all my errands out of the way. Headed down to the beach, the heat was already unbelievably harsh. Needless to say I didn't spend a lot of time on the beach but instead was frolicking around in the water. The water was surprisingly warm and almost was too warm to cool you down to a comfortable temperature. After ...
