... through a delightful garden full of all types of flowers. The 11th century church has had many changes over the years and really the only original part is the West door. Inside it is very strange, a rood screen crosses the whole church, separating the church from the choir, Chancel and sanctuary. We went up Porlock hill with a gradient of 20% but later found another ...

The sun was out by this time. After lunch we headed down the Heddons River valley ...

We had decided today was the day, ration, hail or shine, we were going down to Porthcawl to see our exchange hosts, Paul & Wendy at their Caravan/Cabin. It was much bigger than we thought it would be. It has three bedrooms, a separate toilet, as well as a shower/toilet. There is also a decent size kitchen & living area. It is a real home away from home.
The weather was perfect, the day beautiful ...

Party in Surrey then back to Barnstaple

Breakfast at the Travel Lodge was a bit of a scrimmage with everyone jostling to get at the cereals and toast. They ran out of bread so I grabbed a croissant and retreated. Debbie joined me but she could not eat much as she had had treatment for cancer of the larynx. We had to be ready to leave in the minibus at 11oc so we assembled in our glad rags with Malcolm (youngest brother) to count heads ! It took two hours to drive through the London traffic and down to ...
