Today we wanted to see a bit of Singapore that was representative of an asian country so after breakfast (today chris had indian curry breakfast with a cappucino - he'll confirm this is not a combo to be repeated), we got a taxi to chinatown.

First we visited the Hindhi temple, Sri Mariamman, a smallish temple on one floor. Footwear removed, we rushed a little as the paving slabs were burning with heat from the sun, and it was soon to close, but we got a good feel of the ...

... defeat. It was 3:30pm, and probably 35C, with no clouds. Instead we hopped on a train.

Dinner was one of our favourites in the city. ... br> ourselves at the ride of our choice.

The best way to appreciate the scale of Lee Kuan Yew’s ambition was from the top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel, a boat-shaped pleasure nexus of bars, restaurant and hotel with an infinity pool. A smirking David Beckham, brand ambassador, is pictured around the facility. From 57 stories up, we drank cocktails ...

We slept fine except for the brief arrival of a family next-door sometime in the middle of the night. Just after we woke there was a very heavy downpour. Buffet breakfast, but only ate fruit, fried eggs, toast and croissant. Coffee good. Very empty and forlorn. Nor a terrible hotel just a bit huge, tired and deserted. Amanda used the pool on the roof to swim and sunbathe. The building was right on the edge of the airport ...
