... We'll we didn't miss it & we got on the right one so all in all. Very successful! The trip up was very pretty. Lots of lochs. We walked down to the town & I had fish & chips -the pensioner special and I still couldn't eat it all. Off to Iona ...

... on the outbound ride, and when we went through the tunnels, the smoke and ash came in through the open windows. On the return trip, that did not happen as much because then we were the last coach of the train. While we were stopped in Mallaig, the locomotive moved around to the opposite end of the train. We did not see that operation. They do not have room for the train to make a u-turn in the Mallaig station.

G,day All,

Well we left the Isle of Orkney at some ungodly hour of 6am and we then drove down to Fort William for a few days, we are off to see the Glen Finnan Viaduct that was featured in the Harry Potter movies, and go on the same train with a million other people.

We landed on the mainland and headed south and west towards Fort William traffic was not too bad and again we stopped off at Dornoch for a cuppa and wow did i say wow drop dead have to have sausage ...

... was another info center with more local information about the clans of the areas. I asked the woman in only the Scots wore kilts or if the Irish did as well. She was under the impression that it was a traditional Scottish thing. Its something I am researching; mainly because at the Shamrock Run in Portland, an Irish celebration, there is usually someone (or lots of someone's) wearing kilts and I had always wondered if it was authentic for Irish to wear kilts. ... We swapped email addresses and promised to share some photos. And that was it? Would I do it again, NO! The weather was so good (eventually) that I think if I did it again, it would not be as good and would ruin the memories. If someone was to ask me if I think they should do it, I would definitely recommend it to them, but they should do the whole thing and in at least 7 days, not 6 that I did it in. The first 2 days were too much really. What next? ...
