We had only one thing on the agenda for today--riding the Jacobite train from Fort William to Mallaig. Since Philip has to concentrate on driving and won't have much chance to see the scenery, we planned the train ride to give him a chance to relax, too. ... train out to Roy Bridge, a small community with a couple f 'hotels' and a big river that runs through. Excellent, but very expensive, trout and Salmon fishing. We found our old hotel and were pleased to discover it was clean and run by a kind woman. Our room was unfortunately on top of the rowdy bar and had three single beds in it, which were very comfortable. Martin and I set off promptly, thinking that if the weather turned we would just do Carn Liath then retreat and were walking at 9am from the visitor centre at Aberarder. We followed the excellent path up to the more established birch forest, and ...
... were hit by rain and black
cloud which was heading our way. We were
soon engulfed in a massive downpour, for ¾ hour, bordering on hail. We simply had to put our heads down and squelch up
the 'track', which was pouring with water.
However as we reached the ridge, the rain stopped, and the clouds
cleared to give views along to the summit.

... and then went back to the B&B to rest they again went out to tea and left us home alone so we turned on the tv and watched Home and away damn Australian tv series here in the back waters of Scotland.
Ok bed time and tomorrow is going to be a big one as apparently we are going on the same train that Stewart photographed before, sleep well all and be good if you can't think of us with two heads and one body.
