The trip up the mountain section was glorious with a lengthy section where the snow was falling gently. We had to travel slowly - the landscape was superb. The snow finally turned to rain and then cleared to have ray's of sunshine bathing the Skye Bridge. What a welcome! We spend a night in Portree in a dinky little B&B - all lace and ruffles. In the morning we wake to find everything covered in snow. Last minute shopping and we wend our way via Dunvegan to 6 Fasach ...

On our drive to our new stay we passed by a heap load of snowy mountains.

They had cows, not highland cows though and sheep. We saw the highland cows later.

By 11.30 we were up and down the other side. 9 miles completed but now the remaining mileage would all be on the flat, some roads and then on the towpath alongside ...

... icy cold wind that was blowing some people off their feet and a heap of rain, we all bolted for the nearest cover which turned out to be the Museum of Mallaig, now this was interesting as it told how the town was established by 2 families and over the centuries it grew up into a thriving fishing port, and now by default a Tourist town thanks to the Harry potter movie's and book. The rain and wind soon left us and we went and had something to eat and then it ...

... bridge to avoid being captured by the English in the film Rob Roy. We don't know as we haven't seen it.

The road to the falls is a dead end so we retrace our route to Gairlochy and then branch off towards Speen Bridge visiting the Commando War Memorial enroute. Dedicated to the men of the original Commando Forces, the monument looks dramatic with its mountain backdrop.

We branch off down another backroad which brings us through flowery meadows ...
