... in the alpine conditions high up in the mountains. We saw them at the Alpine Visitor centre and Rock Cut and just before it. The kids were fascinated and the animals were totally unfazed by the humans nearby. Apparently they hibernate for 8 months of the year and for the other 4 months they eat, sleep and sunbathe. Not a bad life. Their fur is really thick, fortunately, as it is really cold up high even though it's hot lower down. Despite ...

There was no real rush on me. I had organised to meet Dexter at his place of work in the afternoon at a restaurant bar in downtown Boulder. With a around 5 hrs of driving left, I slept in. That's was mainly cause of finishing up fairly late from skype. I got organised and was out of the room at 1100. I head out of town and back onto the highway. The mountains around offer some interesting rock patterns as I drive east. The freeway appeared to be following a ...

Getting out of bed groggily, the thought of an epic adventure popped in my head and i quickly packed a few more things that I dreamed i'd need, scurried out of the ...

... was nice enough, down what Stef aways imagined would be a university town.. She said its exactly like her 'nightmare' books that she used to read when she was in primary school. As I never read, I have no idea what she was going on about, but I was glad for her all the same. Dinner was uneventful, and the walk back, whilst a bit ******, was nice enough. Apart from getting a little lost (how we managed that, we have no idea.. It was one straight road...???). Oh well, we ...

    ... miss.

Not to be outdone, again using Butler maps we quickly picked out a couple of great rides to lead us North and up into Boulder. The ride was quite chilly to begin with as we slowly climbed our way up to Leadville (elev 10,200'). The bikes handled the roads really well and we strapped the GoPro Hero camera to Cliffy for a change and he became the film director. Some hilarity ensued as he got the on/off record button ...
