... and by the time we crossed the border we were at 7100 ft. At the Idaho border crossing there was a Visitors Center where we met a group of bikers heading north from Colorado. There was also a poster showing the Salmon River Scenic Highway, and that's what we were planning to follow.

After an evening of lighting and thunder we started out Monday with a call from the mechanic to fix the broken leaf spring on the trailer. $220 dollars later the job was finished. I'm so glad that it didn't happen out in the desert on the way to Twin Falls.

... ski gondala station, which signalled the end of the hike up the hill, was the most enjoyed vista of the day.

The fact we saved $40 by walking up the trail ($20 per person uphill, downhill free), was surprisingly little comfort in mitigating our mood....too soon.

I can't tell you what it is about Idaho. And no it is not the Potatoes. Something about Idaho has been calling us for years. There is a show on the National Geographic Channel called Aerial America. A few months ago they had a one hour show on Idaho. Seeing this only added fuel to the fire. Idaho was destined to be a on the itinerary for this trip.
