    A long drive today and stops only to have breaks. Arrived in Nice about 5.00. Beautiful place on the beach - pebble beach of course being the meditteranian.     We said good-bye to Carcassonne when it was still dark this morning...

    Headed east towards the Mediterranean and watched the landscape change with each kilometre. Detoured into Cannes, where we stopped for a wonder. Beach was narrow and taken up by fancy lounges, umbrellas and expensive restaurants.     ... happily, without thoughts, without awareness, just happiness in a pure child-like, innocent form. I feel like Nice had cast a happy spell on me, and I glided along in this happy coma for the day. Guilliame had a little day trip planned. We would go for a walk along the cliffs at Saint Jean Ferrat, near Villefranche in Nice. Villefranche is the touristy beach, but Saint Jean was way nicer and more popular with the locals.     ... for a trip through deserted streets to the airport. Mark cycled to the airport. Check in was routine and so was the flight home after about a 30 minute delay.

    It is hard to leave the south of France just as summer is starting and I'm sure all five of us wished we could stay a little longer like Michael and Barry did, or a lot longer like Carole did. But it is also nice to be going home after being away for over two weeks.
