Some of the original buildings are evident and very well maintained. They are similar in style to the 'painted ladies' houses that we saw in San Francisco. All the local businesses are in the process of putting up their decorations. You have to admit the North Americans do this better than most. The perfect way to end such an exciting day? Fireworks of course, and Aspen didn't disappoint. Multi coloured fireworks lit up the sky and the snow on the slopes of the mountain. A truly spectacular and memorable day.

After the hills and surrounds of SF, to flying over the Rockies and seeing the mountains covered in snow to landing at Denver Airport and being surrounded by this bare, desolate and amazingly flat terrain.
