The last National Band disbanded 5 years ago at the end of the 2009 World Championships in Kerkrade. For the 12 members of the current band who were on that trip it's great to be back! We're joined by 13 people for whom this is their first National Band and 6 who have been away and come back.

We rehearsed this evening at Macleans College. The band's Musical Director Nigel Weeks is Head of Music at Macleans and we're very fortunate to ...

I was up early. Although this was scheduled to be pretty much a rest day I had quite a bit of work to be done today.

I had a call with Rob Rollinger at Intel at 5am. Good to talk with Rob again and we made good progress.

I then had a call with Katie and Kevin at Intel as we went through some promotional thoughts and opportunities.

As a result of both calls I have some next action ...

Jed offered to drive there and it basically rained off and on for the entire 2 hour there. Luckily just as we pulled into the car park it eased off and we remained dry whilst heading to the cafe to hire a spade in order to dig our holes. In order to get to the part of the beach ...

          Rainy walks and elephants.

... gardens, approximately 20 minutes away by car. A great expanse of land with a lovely visitor centre (containing the worlds best kids jigsaws) made for an enjoyable few hours. We had a nice lunch followed by ice cream (tea and cake for me) in the sunshine before heading back towards our motel and a trip to the nearby park for swings, slides, seesaws and spinny things as the evening sun beamed down. Auckland is growing on us.
