It was such magical time this Thanksgiving. From romping in the hot tub in the 15 degree snowing weather to sledding and snowboarding to walking down Main Street which reminds the kids of their grandparents little Christmas houses- this was a trip I will always remember. It started as a "what if we did this"moment as we tried to plan ...

... the afternoon falling over. It had been a while.
For the last few days we have been up at the ski hills, getting better everyday and absolutely loving it. Keystone is huge, with the gondola taking 10 minutes to reach the top of the run. We've had some big falls but keep coming back each day and doing it again.
We've been camping on the fringe of town and it's starting to get cold. It's expected to get as low as -15 degrees by the end of the week which should be interesting!

evening and made plans for a hike with him on Thursday. Vail is a great place

While I was still in South America over the summer months my
brother Doug was in contact about a September visit to Colorado for some hiking
while he’s still more or less a free man, a last hiking hurrah in the Rockies
with his bro. He’s getting married in November. I left the lodging planning up
to him while I came up with some varied hiking possibilities ...

... silver mining in the days of the old wild west)--very historic and rustic. We did a tour of the National Mining Museum, which was extremely well presented, even taking us down a mine on one of the floors, with life size figures, noise of drilling etc.
Tuesday, we were out for almost 11hours!! We traveled on Independence Pass to Aspen. This pass is closed during winter. Goes up to 12,000 feet. Windy road with spectacular views and still plenty of "iced" snow abounds. We ...
