got up to the sounds of chanting and church bells. Lucca is a medieval walled town. The wall was built in the fifth century. We headed out into the sunshine without coats, a sweater, a scarf, gloves. Beautiful 20 degree day. The wall now has a walking trail on top of it all around the town (2.5 km). We walked the wall about halfway around, then cut back into town to do one of the walking tours.
