... just about to leave for the night (it is now 11 pm) and we have arrived in just the nick of time. He piles our bags onto a golfing trolley and drives us half a mile by torchlight through the forest to our tent. And wow what a tent! Built on stilts, it's as big as our lounge at home with a big double bed, a separate teepee outside for our bathroom, and, (here's the third good thing to be thankful for), a wood burning stove. John gets the fire going and we snuggle down ...

... we’d climbed out of the valley on the way to Logan Pass. I woke D up about halfway through. There was quite a bit of traffic, and it was slow going, but very beautiful. When we got to the parking area at the visitor’s center, there was a sign saying that the parking lot was full and I feared that we’d have to circle forever to find a spot, but it turned out there was actually quite a few empty spaces. We did a hike up to Avalanche Lake, which was 4 mile round trip through the woods. A couple of times we did see signs of bears. The lake was very beautiful views of several waterfalls that feed into the lake. (The trail is called the Avalanche Lake Trail.). There is a narrow gorge near the bottom which was very pretty to look at!
