After a leisurely start, we hit the road around 10am. Our first destination for this leg of the trip was the National Bison Range just about an hour north of Missoula. On the way in, we saw our second bald eagle flying above the Jocko river. We also crossed under an animal bridge intended to give migrating wildlife a safer way to cross the busy road. That was kinda neat, we'd not seen one of those before.

I think someone forgot to leave directions. We found very little sun. The nice thing about off season? Less traffic. The bad part? Misty rain and hail that make it hard to see the scenery. That translates into I only got about 135 photos to weed through this evening. I love digital photography!

... alert to the upper branches of nearby Aspen tree intensely jostling in the breezeless air. Chris and my eyes locked with an unspoken assumption that we were about to have our very first bear encounter. So we did what any logical, unarmed human would do...stood on our picnic table to get a better look:) Being able to see that there was nothing of any sizably threatening height shaking the tree, we walked over to check it out. We approached to find a busy ...
