... that the shuttle for the harbour left at 05:45 the next day so that wasn't going to happen. We spent the day walking through and up an extinct volcano to an old military observation point to see views over Waikiki. A very enjoyable walk but not the best to do it at 1pm at the hottest time of the day! We then flew over to Kona on the Big Island, where we're staying for a few nights. We were pretty tired ...

We stopped at the Marriott Beach Resort and it really lovely. We shared a sandwich and watched everyone in the pool. Walked out to the beach to the fish ponds. Looked around the shopping stuff and found some marbles turtles for me and Tanya. Back to Kona to Walmart to buy some cottage cheese and a ...

... before packing gear for tomorrow: the Big Island!

On Thursday we woke at 4:20am in order to catch our pre-arranged shuttle that would take us to the airport in time for our 7am flight to Hilo. The shuttle never showed up. When the hostel staff called to find out what had happened, we learned that the shuttle bus had simply neglected to come by and pick us up. Way to go, shuttle bus company! We won’t use you ...
