    We went to the Kona Coffee Company Visitors Center, Mill, and Museum, where Mom had coffee, while Dad and I got diet Cokes instead. Then we went to the Painted Church, a Roman Catholic church started by Father John. It has beautiful paintings, many of which contain a hidden message to his congregation because of the language barrier there was at first. We are offered a ride for 15usd per person, we agreed and only then saw the shuttle.NO, everything was fine, to my understanding white pickup..but our seats were in trunk..ok, it was polstered with some carpets...and surprise.. another couple joined us there or to be honest - squeezed in.     ... old lava flows from the Mt. Hualalai eruption in 1800 (the coffee plantation mountain from yesterday) and the Mauna Loa eruption in 1859. Rivers of molton lava coursed down the mountain. Looking down the coast, you can still see black lava rock fields where the lava flowed. We drove back along the coast later in the day, through the miles of fields of black rock. Eerie.     ... were beautiful colorful little birds playing in and around the trees at the beach - yellow-billed cardinals and saffron finches (we looked them up in a bird book at the store). We've also seen several mongooses in the parking lot here at the condo, which is bad news for the birds. They kind of look like a cross between a gopher and a weasel, with red eyes.
