... tuning our pack lists and checking for weight vs. necessity. The weather here in Tahoe has not been conducive to riding/training in the last two weeks but as the title says: we have " lots of time". Looking forward to meeting Maureen. Dick says great things about her and on the phone she sounds both competent and ...

... a formidable defence and had already claimed one of Dylan's cars ("silver car"). We are both very proud, and a little achy. Lunch on the deck of a lake front restaurant, followed by the obligatory nap and chill back at the gingerbread house rounded off a nice morning of doing very little. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. PCT day 65. Miles 943-963.3 It feels good to be back on the PCT. Now that I am almost done with the scenic part of the Sierra, it is time to pick up the pace and start doing 20-25 mile days again. Knowing that, I was awake today by 5:30 and on the trail by 7am. Leaving Tuolemne Meadows, the PCT parallels the Tuolemne River for 5-6 miles on its way to Glen Aulin High Sierra camp. Along the way, I saw cascading ...

... and putting up the tent, I go for a walk to a nearby canyon, which I had been told by the hut warden (a pleasant lady dressed in full Viking costume) was "unmissable". Predictable sighs of appreciation follow when I see a canyon down in the valley below, but when I continue a little further and look around to the other side these turn into gasps of astonishment at the sight. This canyon is stunning, for its scale and also the sheer number of different colours ...

    Another day, another adventure!

On the menu today was zip-lining at the Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park just past Tahoe City. It was a cool morning as we arrived in the forest to get kitted up. After the usual safety briefings we were off. There were three courses all similar to Go-Ape courses in the UK. They involved various obstacles to clamber over, through and around up in the canopy and several high, long and fast zip-lines. The boys had ...
