... we hauled our bags to get a train into town, only to find there wouldn't be one for nearly 2 hours. We tried to get a taxi outside the station, but the only driver prepared to take us wanted silly money - being gringos just off the plane and all.

... weekend market, one of Asias largest markets, had over 15000 stalls and took our breath away. It was narrow passages packed with bargain hunters and stalls selling just about everything you could want. It really was incredible and we spent hours wandering around enjoyng the experience before catching the train back into town. Sadly our time to leave the city came around too soon and it was another overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
