        ... dobbiamo camminare per mezzora! Anche in serata sempre piu militari si aggirano per la citta’ e la mattina dopo ci viene riferito che e’ stata imposta la legge marziale e che il governo e’ stato dissolto.

        In serata prendiamo un treno (12 ore di notte) per arrivare a Chiang Mai. Qualche scarafaggio e aria condizionata rotta alle 11pm fanno una nottata piuttosto interessante! ...

        ... for the Airport Expressway. We could soon see the ramp was blocked by a sign that had fallen over. A repair crew was on sight. The driver cursed as we had to take a detour, exiting westbound onto a road. At the first intersection, we made a U-turn past a fuel tanker truck that had collided with a taxi. Yikes! I’m a bit anxious right now about making it to the airport without running into any more incidents!

        The former capital when Thailand was Siam. Beautiful ruins in the Khmer style. Area best seen by boat. But there is a lot of flooding...note the house picture...can see the water line near the top of the house. The colored stuff is a special spun sugar they make...was a tasty snack for us rolled in sweet ...

        ... back through the manic traffic of Bangkok.

        Our hotel was literally in the middle of the action; right on Khaosan road which, along with a road parallel, is full of market stalls, cheapish bars and restaurants and tuktuk drivers. We couldn't avoid people wanting to give us a ride in their taxi or tuktuk, trying to sell me a tailored suit or pull us into their bar. It was on here that I tried grilled scorpion. Just tasted salty!
