... king prawns in Pastis, which is some alcohol I'd never heard of. They were the hugest prawns I'd ever seen and they arrived doing the sidestroke in a divine, creamy sauce that I sopped up with loads of bread. It also came with rice, which I didn't bother wasting any room on. After that I ordered another 1/2 dozen oysters because they were so good. Sometimes I can't even believe the amount of food I'm able to consume. Can you eat a dozen oysters by yourself? But I didn't stop there! ...

Monday 2 September Weather warm 30 degrees sunny Check out day. One last quick explore of our surrounds and then make way to ship. Until you see one, it is hard to appreciate the size of them. The Celebrity Line is very efficient and before we knew, we were sipping champagne in the bar which was set up in an "ice" theme including icicles on the bar tops. It was all lovely. Between Cannes and Nice was about 15 miles, and it was a straight, flat road along the beach with intermittent bike paths. The beaches were packed the entire way. In Nice, the beaches were the same, but there was a ...

... brunch and browsing, we made our way down to the beach and strolled along the promenade. This led to a set of ancient steep stairs that winded up along the cliff side. The stairway led us to a lookout point and one of the most breathtaking views thus far. Crystal clear, vivid, blue waters churned into pebble filled beaches with a backdrop all creamy, buttery colored old buildings with red rooftops that extended up the hillside into lush dark ...

... actually do it. And the real luxury has been the lack of time pressures, i.e., we're only here for two days, we have to hurry! Or we have to get back to the ship by 4 o'clock! We have gone at our own pace, and no pace when it suited us. That perhaps has been the best part of this trip. So, have you started working on your bucket list? Mark Twain said it best: "Travel is fatal to bigotry, prejudice and narrow ...
