... we ate, talked and drank some wonderful wines.

The show tonight was a comedian – Steve, Paula, Christopher and I went – and actually laughed. He was quite funny. Spared no one in the front row nor anyone who dared enter late. We all got a good laugh at their expense. Maybe they learned a lesson – never show up late when a comedian is on a roll!!

Today was a travel day, Crete to Rome via Athens. We dropped Jimmy at the airport, we put petrol in to get him to almost half. No one showed at the drop off so we left the key under the floor mat as instructed and left him. Check in was smooth then we had a couple of hours to kill. It was interesting at Heraklion (Crete) airport which could best be described as an older more crowded version of Perth airport. People ...

Today we ventured out in Jimmy to check out the other end of the island. It was still raining however so this made walking around sight seeing a bit more difficult. We navigated ourselves down to the port area of Heraklion where we found a cafe open for brekky. Mel had her traditional luke warm waffle while Ali had a bacon and egg brekky that came with pancakes and a nice orange cake (reminded Ali of something Nan used to make). Ali walked down to the old fort on the port to ...

... for the 1pm given the thought of Mel getting sea sick. So we changed our plans and decided to head to the town of Sitia in search of a swimming beach. Mel drove and Ali navigated again. Again we encountered some windy roads but not as bad as yesterday. Sitia is located on the north side of the island down the eastern end. It's a nice little sea side town with a sheltered beach made of pebbles as is the norm for beaches here. We ...

We have a Car in Crete

Hiring a car overseas, driving on wrong side of road, wife driving, husband navigating, now that sounds like a true marriage tester! So today we picked up a Suzuki Jimmy 1.3ltr left hand drive manual. Well we actually picked up 2, the 1st one had the driver's auto window that died before we drove out of the yard, so we swapped for another one, not red to Mel's dismay. ...
