    ... chatting with the other Aussies & kiwis so we sat together for dinner too. We had fabulous time. The Melbournians are also teachers at a private school – he DP & Maths teacher & she is Teacher-Librarian. The Kiwi is a sailor & that led to some interesting chatting about the cruise & where we were heading. The meal was exquisite: Mushroom & Tarragon Soup, Baby Spinach salad with cranberries & almonds; a choice of King Salmon or Braised Ox Tail ...

    ... mostly 6 hour days and varies from the Visitor Center to the Russian Bishop's House and some special events or activities as they come along. So this weekend I had Sat- Monday off and I took advantage of it! I found the Princess Maksoutoff's Grave, the Russian Cemetary, and took a hike on the Cross Trail- the part I hadn't hiked before. And I did carry bear spray this time!

    ... of the movies they are showing this evening is Captain Phillips with Tom Hanks. Not my kind of movie :-( It was a beautiful day in Sitka. Sunny and 59 degrees. It was getting warm, so I had to take my **********.     I finally fished today! But first- breakfast! Which was Alaskan Amber ale pancakes with bacon, and chocolate chip scones, my favorite breakfast of the week. A saltwater boat went out early and so did a freshwater boat. The third boat went out early for a couple of hours to pick up and re-drop crab pots and then came back.     ... of work our efforts yielded three tiny gold flakes. When asked if you could make money panning for gold the father said yes as long as you were willing to accept a five dollar an hour wage given that it would take roughly 300 hours to pan an ounce of gold.

    After ceasing our mining operation we walked back through the beautiful valley amid rushing waterfalls and thanked our lucky stars to have a washer dryer in our apartment!
