    ... and growing mushrooms!), watching Pink salmon jump, bald eagles circle overhead, a Great Blue Heron descend to the shore and red squirrels sound the alarm that intruders were 'on their patch'. We found an eagle feather - 20ins long - and also saw an eagle's nest high up in the trees. To end the afternoon we sped, nay white water rafted, back to the boat, wind and sun on the face.     After settling in we went back down for the safety talk & explanation of our next 11 days with the emphasis being on all enjoying it together. Nothing is a problem for them, the Bridge is always open and always ask if we need anything. It was then pre-dinner snacks of crudités & hummus and the bar open. Then it was 6:30 and time for dinner.     ... rough weather. I did question Kimmie if she had checked the wind report, she replied what wind these are just little gust, buck-up. I knew she was right so we both put our heads down and spent the next 2 hours paddling our arms off. We made it back had a good laugh and I do not believe I will be washing my hair for the next couple of days because I can't raise my arms above by head they are so sore. Will send another update once we get off the ship in Juneau and find another ...

    Friday was our last day of training- there were 8 of us, 2 experienced seasonal Rangers, 4 new seasonal Rangers, and 2 volunteers.
