    ... fun and busy with kids and families. The theme was all about the temperate rain forest that is around Sitka.

    For the next 2 weeks, Monday – Friday the new seasonal Ranger staff and the interpretative volunteers are having training. Reminds me of the Peace Corps- admin. stuff, safety stuff (including bears and bear spray!) cultural and historical stuff we will need to know to lead tours and answer visitor questions etc. We had some fun ...

    Wednesday morning we arrived in Sitka. It was an early start as our tour started at 7:05am. This time, we had to tender to get to shore. Ashore we were doing the birds, bears and barnicles tour. We started off with the birds as we went to the raptor center where they treat injured birds and if possible, return them to the wild.
