    Turkish sailing

A travel blog entry by robbiej on Jul 28, 2015

We got an unexpected surprise when we reached Fethiye. We got to our hostel and when to the terrace bar for a drink, overlooking the bay. Within a minute of sitting down and ordering a drink, I looked over the rail and sore our 2 friends from Canberra who we did our tour of Egypt with! We knew they were in turkey but we were planning on catching up in Istanbul. It was a happy accident that we bumped into them about 1200 kilometers away! We had ...

... to see, although not quite as blue as I was expecting, however the tiles and craftsmanship was pretty amazing. I then went across the road to the Hagia Sophia, which has been a Christian basilica, followed by mosque and now currently a museum. The building itself is architecturally beautiful inside and out.

... our boat yet and Umut was socializing with them, not in the spot he said he would be. After one last long look at each other, I headed to bed.

Sunday was our last full day. I woke up just as we were passing a huge, beautiful ridge. We were heading to Butterfly Valley. We anchored, swam, had breakfast, and were taken to shore. There is supposed to be a zillion (give or take a million) butterflies fluttering around to accompany a hike to a waterfall. Although we spotted ...

Day 5 - Final day climbing Mount Babadag

I decided to spend the last day climbing Mt Babadag which is Turkish for father mountain, Its pretty obvious why its called that because if your at the bottom of it on Olu deniz beach it towers above you. The summit is 1989m above sea level and only 5km from the edge of the sea itself therefore creating a dramatic feature to be seen in many holiday makers photographs, not to mention the 1hr or so climb in a clapped out vehicle if you decide to put your ...
