... today as we went up the Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail. Once again, Koma made the ascent on his own, and once again, the views from the top were fantastic. Not only did we have a spectacular view of the coast and the lighthouse that gave its name to the trail, but we also could make out Molokaʻi (the nearest of Hawaiʻi’s main islands) in the distance and spotted a humpback whale in the sea.

... lives to protect countless others. Very moving. Our visit to Pearl Harbour took most of the day and left us feeling pretty wiped so we had ourselves an early night. The next day we headed out for a hike up to a place called the Manoa falls. The waterfall itself isn't that exciting but the walk through the Prehistoric looking forest is well worth it. The housing I saw didn't look like the big houses in Diamond Head.

We didn't end up at Ewa beach as I wanted to be back at the hotel before 7pm. We got off at Pearl Ridge Pearl City which was where the locals hang out. It's an ultra big shopping centre split into 2 areas: uptown and downtown. A monorail runs between them to carry shoppers. We walked instead.

Monday was spend working out the activities for our time on Oahu and also scoping out the neighbourhood.

The boys went for a walk down the beach while Margaret, Tracey, and I went down the main drag of Waikiki to the Royal Hawaiian for a coffee and to walk around the grand hotel. You could really imagine the panama hat and white suits being the dress standard though these days it was pretty much beach attire.
