Today is Sunday and we came on the ship yesterday. We are really being lazy.
After boarding the ship we started wandering around the ship. We came upon a group of people just leaving a room and we jumped into the group to take the restaurant tour and we were glad we did. Later in the day we went aback ...
... with the concierge who had called us and she was very nice. She wanted to help us with our schedule and find activities that suited us but we told her we were already booked up and so she wrote down our schedule and then gave us maps and more information on each of the things we had planned ot make it easier on us to know what time to leave and how to get there. She was very helpful! As a gift she also gave us a box of chocolates (caramel ...
Lahaina, Hawaii, United States mindydyan... Around 100 feet of visibility throughout the dive and an amazing array of tropical sea critters. I saw nudibranchs, eels, lionfish and some really cool ghost shrimp. My second dive was at the "cathedral", an underwater sea cave created by a lava flow a couple hundred years ago. The cave was big enough to park a submarine in and looked eerily like an actual church. A 4 foot chunk of ceiling had fallen out of the roof of the cave, leaving what looked like an altar in the middle of ...
Ka'anapali, Hawaii, United States ryanandpatti... a vast expanse of Pacific Ocean between the Hawaiian Islands and the port of Ketchikan in Alaska . While Ketchikan is perhaps the busiest and biggest cruise ship port in Alaska , at this time of year - just after Christmas - it would be almost deserted. While I was blogging Barbara was catching up on her sleep by drifting in and out of consciousness. When the battery ran low on my computer I moved to the far end of the terminal ...
Lahaina, Hawaii, United States lobo... day. Another awesome sight in Lahaina is this huge banyan tree. This tree was planted in 1873 and covers over two acres! The tree is not really a tree but kind of vine that grows into something that looks like an awful lot like a tree. Also there was the old mariner's church with the big neon sign on its roof brightly proclaiming "Jesus Is Coming". Anyone visiting Maui needs to go to Lahaina if for no other reason than to see living history. After spending several hours ...
Lahaina, Hawaii, United States fatoldbiker... there's this saying, 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'; well we are definitely inspired to invoke our 5th amendment rights regarding this short 3 hour tour, (really just 2 hours). Lets just say free drinks and live music on an ocean cruise in Maui with 6 friends is a great end to another fun day. I ...
Lahaina, Hawaii, United States g.cross... cup of strong Java that became part of a religion for me. Kona Coffee. It's good stuff. Wonder if I can get any imported?? Once Amber saw me re-emerge on Wakiki beach as a completely different re-caffeinated person, she wanted to know the name of my dealer. After a couple of hours more sunbathing (saved from coma status by the coffee), Amber and I decided to go and get showered and to meet again outside Billabong for dinner. Back in the hostel's kitchen I met the lovely Lucy ...
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States jo21... the 'permits' and we simply weren't on his tour and therefore not paying him money. We also reasoned that the numerous 'threats' with the phone were probably just an attempt to get us to pay him off. None of that, we thought! And defiantly ate our apples and oranges whilst he ranted on. He actually played the 'they suffer leprosy' card by claiming 'this is not a tourist attraction' - we nearly laughed out loud at that one; the tour operator saying ...
Lahaina, Hawaii, United States alexandsue... at first since our experience in Salt Lake City had been so high sell but we were assured there would be no attempts to proselytize at the Cultural Center. Those promises were correct. We met some truly delightful young people whose total purpose was to share their Polynesian culture with us. The first show we saw was a canoe presentation that introduced dance from each of the 8 island cultures. We next visited an Imax presentation on ...
