... Bay Arts Factory hostel, Kayaking with whales in Byron Bay and the amazing people we have met along the way. We are currently sitting in Surfers Paradise catching up on civilized life at a time share apartment Rachelle's parents were nice enough to book for us, our van is at the doctor getting a new radiator before we head into the scorching outback. This is an amazing country and so similar to Canada except the nicer weather here.

We were supposed to leave at 8:20 AM but the restaurant didn't open until 11AM and for fear that the wallet was there ...

The layed back atmosphere of Bluesfest and the fact that I don't have to be working on a tight schedual to get somewhere is GREAT!!! So relaxing after the turmoils of the trip. Wandering around absorbing the music, admiring the colourful people and sights. Partaking in the collage of cuisine from wide ranging places. Brazilian haloumi, German kranski sausage and my favorite Creole Jambalaya. The musical styles are just as diverse. ...

I arrived at Surfers Paradise, stored my luggage whilst I waited for my host to finish work, and headed to the esplanade for a walk along the beach. The national sandcastle competitions had just recently been held here and were still on display - they were all unbelievably detailed but I believe they'd chosen the right winner! After my walk I headed to the main shopping area to grab myself a coffee and perused the tourist info to decide what I should fit into my time here on the Gold ...
