The leg from Yazd to Dubai was long and tedious. In all, about 28+ hours of travel! by car then the slow ferry across to Sharjah. Not a lot of sleep to be had, that's for sure. How pleasant to arrive in a clean, efficient, modern place just for a change. How fantastic to ditch the scarf & cover up clothing. Our hotel was in the marina district. All that remains of the old slave market are two underground holding cells that are now under the Anglican Church, built on this site after slavery was abolished here in 1873. ... all lined up and not revolving. And there was nothing in any of the exhibits we passed about it revolving. Too much trouble, too expensive, too many people getting seasick, or too hard to engineer.

We got a hotel driver this time so a lovely special price to get to the Burj Kahlifa. He drops us at the Dubai Mall which is the largest mall I have ever been inside - to date. We follow the signs through the mall until we find the "at the ...

... pashminas around my neck trying to make a sell shouting 'your colour, miss'. I found the Dubai Museum with the help of my TripAdvisor City Guides app. The museum taught me about how Dubai used to be and for only 3 dhs was well worth the money! Headed back to the creek and found a Carrefour supermarket where I stocked up on 3L water, fruit salad and crisps all for less than £4! Who said Dubai was expensive?! It was now 2:30pm so ...
