    Waking up in Dubai

A travel blog entry by cg_howell on Mar 07, 2015

I'm going to attempt to keep a daily log of my time here in Dubai. We'll see how it turns out.

Anyway, I arrived yesterday afternoon after what seemed like an eternity of travel time. I missed my second flight on the way here because my first was delayed over 8 hours. After all was said and done, I ended up arriving at my hostel-like …

... could hardly bare to stand in the sand as it was so hot, even through my sandals. The drive lasted about 30 minutes and was through the sand dunes with several moments where the adrenalin was rushing. Another photo shoot saw us both being very silly- possibly heat stroke setting in!!! Even mohammad said i looked like a local!!! Mohammad showed us boys the area where you wash your feet etc and explained the ...

... to kill, we set about trying to work out where our plane to Beijing would take off from. This managed to kill a few hours as it took an age to find a map and departure board.

All the while we kept passing through store after store after store selling everything from Duty Free products to Lamborghini sports cars (unless they can now grow wings, it seems a bit of a pointless purchase in a departure lounge in my opinion). What surprised me is that it was a ...

    Always listen to advice ....

... up. Oh yeah haha..... Of course there would be a bloody camel on the beach! Giving Western and it's donkeys a run for it's money! A bloody mirage indeed! The Burj Al hotel took me at least 10 min in a taxi to get to from that camel checkpoint. I would have collapsed from heat exhaustion by them. Glad I didn't carry on walking though, because I got there and realised you have to book/pay to get in. F**K that! I took a picture, a rubbish one at that :( ...
