Delightful chic apartments. We stayed in Seabreeze, lovely courtyard apartment backing on to woodland. Compact but with everything we needed for a four night stay in this clean homely abode. The lady who manages the property was really friendly and helpful. We liked sitting out on the private terrace for BBQs each evening - tip: don't feed the friendly kookaburras, you will make friends for life but they can be a bit overfriendly, very cute though. We made a rod for our own backs in spite of the advice in the useful welcome pack on not feeding the wildlife. The location of Julians is ideal for the Cape Byron trek, the start of which is just across the road, less convenient if you don't drive especially for the town centre, it is a good twenty minute walk which is a bit of an uphill return trek especially with shopping. Wifi worked well. Apartment has washing machine, dishwasher.

I’m not sure we can find apt words to describe Byron Bay, so stunning was the scenery, breathtaking panoramic coastal views. And of course, good as they are, the photos just won’t do justice to those views but for those who haven’t been to Byron before, they will surely entice you to visit and those who have been before, they will …

... had said that there was nothing there at all, and some had said it was a great party place. When Virginie and I had checked in and got sorted, we went for a lovely long stroll along the beach. Miles and miles of gorgeous white sand didn't really hide the fact that the backdrop was a concrete jungle of high-rises. It was a bit of a bizarre setup to have skyscrapers towering over the beautiful beach. The whole beach was consequently in the shade. It was a pretty picture to see the ...

... in Australia. I was also super excited because I had seen lots of fish in the waves and a pod of wild dolphins. One dolphin even jumped up out of the water, so cool.

After surfing we headed back for the hostel where we got showered and changed. We dried our towels and swimsuits before packing them. We couldn't decide what to have for dinner so we walked down the road a bit until we found a Thai ...

In the other section is a table and chairs, stove and kettle and all I have to do is roll out my sleeping bag – job done. Mary and I start to unravel her tent on the spot next to ours and just as we have laid it down a guy from the pott factory tent next door comes out – Mary eagerly introduces herself holding out her hand and I follow. ...

... met before. Everything turned out to be great though! the girls were from Germany and were very polite. They ended up going out to party while we were asleep. They didn't get home until right before our alarm went off at 4:30 A.M. I was unable to sleep because of a horrible cough I picked up earlier in the week, so it didn't bother me that they came in so late/early.

Of course we slightly regretted our decision to get up so early ...
