First week at Father Ray....

So after my first meal, I headed out with some of the other volunteers for ice cream at the Big C (Thai shopping centre) We are a good 30 minute walk from the dodgy part of Pattaya that I have heard so much about, and this area seems nice. I like it.

Unfortunately the area was rubbish, there was nothing there except a 7-11. It was rubbish in every sense, I don’t know if the floods were responsible but the place was crawling in rats. 5 times outside rats ...

... nightly going's on, both me and the guy from Birmingham made a semi-conscious decision that once we'd shaken off our inevitable hangover, we will almost definitely be catching the first bus/train/taxi (yes - I'd even be prepared to pay for a taxi in this case!) to transport us back in to the Thailand that we witnessed before we were corrupted by this evil place!
I felt like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz as I turned to my friend, "Dave, I've a feeling we're not in Thailand anymore!" ...

Cool. La le chauffeur sort de l'autoroute et me dit qu'il va prendre des raccourcis, et en effet, a peine un quart d'heure apres j'arrive a destination,
largement dans les temps.. Il est tout fier, aussi je le remercie chaleureusement, en meme temps j'ai quand meme paye 300 baths, soit 6 euros. Je vais faire
le check in, et j'ai meme le temps d'aller m'acheter un hot dog et un mini sandwich a 7/11!!! Puis attends 20 minutes, ...
