After the rain we took along walk on white sand beach & went into Destin to check it out. It was once a barrier island but with sea level changes, shifting sands & hurricanes it is now a peninsula. It calls itself the luckiest Fishing Village, I'm not sure it can be classed as a village any more but here certainly were lots of fishing boats in the harbour, it's hard to imagine it that busy. It was still very overcast & cool out so ...

Miles driven so far = 11,155

We have been "lounging" here on the white sand beaches for past few days. We drove 424 miles from Savannah on north Georgia coast down through Jacksonville then across thru Tallahassee (Florida State University) over to pan handle then south to Grayton Beach State Park which is 40 miles NW of Panama City.

The temperatures were in the 30's at night, and although it was only in the 50's during the day, at least it was sunny! I enjoyed a walk on the beautiful beach and a couple fantastic sunsets over the ...

... we drove around the area and checked out the beach and walked on the pier. What we noted was that the beach sand is very white and very fine, almost like sugar. While on the pier, we saw a couple sea turtles, but no fish or dolphins. We then drove into Fort Walton Beach looking for what they call their historical district, but never found what we would want to get out and ...

... 15 minutes) we decide to bomb it aka go as fast as possible. Cruising through the leaves and grass I came upon a large section of sand. Going at such high speeds my bike wobbled out from underneath me, my response was a flying ninja karate dismount landing solidly on my two feet! With not a moment to spare in the jungle I grabbed my bike and ran up a small hill getting back on my bike and charge ahead. Soon after we found the road we were ...
