      ... returning to the van, Dan notices a leak underneath. We're both down on the ground checking it out when a young man comes along and asks if we're having a problem. He turns out to be a handyman extraordinaire, plumber, electrician, etc. We mention our broken plumbing and he says, "Follow me." One hour later he has fixed the tap and the leak and restored our faith in the goodness of human nature.

      Driving north on Hwy 19 up to Tallahassee the weather is cooler, trees are bigger, grass is greener & we have rolling landscape for the first time this month. The Elevation here is a whopping 203ft! it is more rural, there are a few cattle & I wonder if it is old plantation lands. We drive through poor communities with lots of old abandoned buildings.

      ... thunderstorms and lightning. This morning, in between thunderstorms, we went out for a 3 mile walk through the slash pine forest, white sand dunes and along the beach. See photos. We returned just in time before another thunderstorm which featured close lightning, momentary loss of power (thank you surge protector) and torrential downpour. Now a little reprieve before next volley.

      After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. The temperatures were in the 30's at night, and although it was only in the 50's during the day, at least it was sunny!
