We deliberated over the best way to see New York - our first visit - and, based on advice, decided to walk around part of Manhattan. We docked on the Hudson River (at W 50th St for those in the know) and walked south to W 42nd St so we could see the famous Times Square, and then north along 5th Avenue.
Times Avenue was a big disappointment. We expected an impressive square with maybe gardens, ...

We had spent the whole day walking the city, a later search on Google maps told us that just between our most northerly and southerly points alone was 4.8 miles. We must have doubled that distance with all the east to west detours we made. At 6pm we were tired and hungry so got on the subway and went to complete our day’s errands: collect the now clean laundry, grab dinner ...
